Cake Stand Tutu

Hi Krafters!!

I know it has been a while but I've been busy. We had my daughter's party which was a success. I'll be blogging more about that later. In addition, I have been redecorating my classroom with a Disney theme. With all of that along with school starting its been hard to find the time to sit down and blog. But here I am!
I wanted to share with you how to make a cake stand tutu, because they are so adorable but there aren't many tutorials out there to show us.  This process is very similar to the no sew tutus. I actually used the left over tulle from the tutu I made my daughter to make the cake stand tutu.

Materials
  • 2 cardboard 12inch cake circles
  • Tulle (color of your choice)
  • Hot glue gun

Step 1

Cut the tulle into about 1.5 inch strips about 10 inches long.  The measurements do not have to be exact.

Step 2

Fold each strip of tulle in half and hot glue the crease of the fold to one of the cake rounds.

I thought making a tutu would be as simple as this first step but as you can see from above it isn't looking much like a tutu so I decided I needed to add another dimension of tulle to it.

Step 3: Take the second cake round and cut a large circle out of the center leaving about a 1 inch outer circle. Again, the measurements do not have to be precise.
Step 4:Take a strip of tulle and fold it in half. Place the crease of the tulle underneath the circle and pull the ends through the little opening, thus creating a slip knot. This secures the tulle to the circle.Repeat this process until the entire circle is covered in tulle.

Step 5: Once the circle is completed place it on top of the other cake circle that you completed in step 2. You can hot glue it to secure it better.

Step 6: Place the cake rounds on top of the cake plate. (See my diy cake plate tutorial)
And viola!!!

 Until next time...
